Visa launches 24/7 USDC funding for global payments - Crypto News

Visa has introduced 24/7 funding and settlement for cross-border payments using the USDC stablecoin, according to Crypto News. The move extends Visa's existing stablecoin settlement trials to a round-the-clock model, meaning participating partners can fund payment obligations on weekends and holidays rather than waiting for traditional banking windows.

The development matters because cross-border payments have long depended on correspondent banking rails that operate on business days and can take days to clear. A stablecoin pegged to the US dollar can move continuously, which may reduce frictions around timing and liquidity for institutions that opt in. That said, adoption depends on which issuers, acquirers and merchants actually connect to the service, and on the regulatory treatment of stablecoins in each jurisdiction involved.

For market observers, the key questions are scale rather than novelty: how much volume flows through the channel, whether other card networks follow, and how regulators respond as dollar-denominated tokens become more embedded in mainstream payment infrastructure. Visa's step is best read as an incremental expansion of stablecoins into payments plumbing, not a change to the tokens themselves.
