The stablecoin market has contracted by 6%, according to Pluang, while Binance's USDT reserves have fallen 7.8%. Stablecoins are the settlement layer for much of crypto trading, so a shrinking supply can signal that capital is leaving the market or that holders are converting into other assets. A decline in exchange-held USDT may also reflect changing liquidity conditions on trading venues.
Separately, Solana-linked card spending reached a record $141 million, Pluang reports. The figure points to growing use of crypto-linked payment cards on Solana, where tokens are converted for everyday purchases rather than held. That is a different signal from falling stablecoin supply: it suggests some demand is shifting toward real-world spending.
For observers, the contrast is the story. Stablecoin contraction and lower Binance USDT reserves point to tighter crypto liquidity, while record card spending shows payments activity expanding. Watching whether stablecoin supply stabilizes, and whether Solana card volumes hold near record levels, will help clarify whether the two trends reflect the same shift in user behavior or separate developments.
