Bullish on Anthropic but don’t want to wait until the IPO? Here’s how you can invest today.

Retail investors who want exposure to Anthropic before any potential public listing have limited but real options: funds that already hold stakes in the AI developer. Rather than buying the company directly, investors can gain indirect exposure through ETFs and other pooled vehicles that include Anthropic among their holdings.

The key distinction is that this is indirect ownership. A fund's exposure depends on the size of its position relative to the rest of the portfolio, so Anthropic may represent only a small slice of a diversified product. Investors should check a fund's holdings, weighting, expense ratio and how frequently the portfolio is rebalanced before drawing conclusions about how much Anthropic exposure they are actually getting.

The market relevance cuts both ways. Pre-IPO access lets ordinary investors participate in a private company's growth story, but private valuations can be stale, and a fund's price may not immediately reflect news about the underlying business. A future IPO could also change the picture, altering how these holdings are valued or traded. For now, the practical takeaway is to treat such funds as diversified vehicles with a partial AI tilt, not as a direct substitute for owning Anthropic shares.
